Week 4 means midterms for some, and for others, a chance to present at the Surgical Society conference. Aspiring presenters, submit your abstracts by the 1st week of March. In this post, I describe my experience at Szent Imre Oktatókórház in Budapest, specifically in the Nephrology department. T talk about the arrival process, daily schedule, tasks and experiences, as well as visits to other departments. The overall experience was positive, and the I drop some practical tips for future students interested in completing their practices there.
The Pécs Emergency Society, a student organization at the Medical faculty, offers hands-on experience and practical skills for General medicine students. The program consists of two groups with different schedules, covering topics like cannulation and trauma care. Participants can earn a certificate of participation and enjoy various events throughout the year. Registration closes on February 16th.
In the spring semester before your rotational year, choosing a thesis topic and supervisor is crucial. Consider their experience, methodology, communication, and interest. Since we are at the beginning of the semester, I’d like to think we’ve started mapping out our study plans, checking out the syllabuses and such. No pressure if you haven’t, but you should probably get to it soon- week 1 becomes week 5 real quick.
The Surgical Society is starting up their programme for the semester next week and in preparation for this, there was an info session yesterday, the 7th of February. I attended it and now I’m back with all the intel.
The Peer Programme at the University is a valuable resource for students, offering support in study tips, social life balance, bureaucracy for international students, and mental health. Students can connect with peers through the website, email, in person, or at events. Be sure to ask questions freely and check emails for responses.
